Mission Statement
The mission of Tyne and Wear Research and Information (TWRI) is to support district interests by providing and maintaining a cost-effective range of socio-economic, demographic and property-based research and information services.
About Us
TWRI’s major function is a support service operating mainly on behalf of the five district councils in Tyne and Wear; Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland, through the assembly and analysis of statistical information. Data is also made more widely available via reports, abstracts and publications. TWRI also liaises with national bodies, particularly with the Office for National Statistics (ONS), and central government departments on a variety of data issues affecting local authorities in Tyne and Wear.

Main Customer Groups
TWRI’s main customer group is the five Tyne and Wear local authorities but we also work with a wide range of organisations, including; the police, fire service, probation Government Office North East (GONE), Association NE Councils (ANEC) and North East Assembly (NEA).
Advice and Consultancy
TWRI may be referred to for general enquiries or consultancy work within and adjacent to each service area. TWRI can also undertake research and analysis work on a contract basis.
